DVS & Heavy Goods in London – we are prepared!

DVS was created to improve the safety of all road users, particularly vulnerable road users such as pedestrians, cyclists and motorcyclists.  The Direct Vision Standard (DVS) for heavy goods vehicles is an assessment on how much a driver can see from their cab in relation to other road users, and also forms part of the safety permit for all HGV’s over 12 Tonnes entering London. It uses a 1-5 rating system based on how much a driver is visually aware of from the cab windows.

From 31st October 2019 this procedure will be introduced and from October 2020, all HGV drivers will see this system enforced within London and any driver with a rating lower than 2 will be banned from the area unless they can provide a safety permit. This will be enforced 24 hours a day 7 days a week.

Sheldon Clayton Logistics are great supporters of this and are in compliance with the scheme for deliveries into London, and are continually working to better our rating and providing our highest level of safety on the road.
